Parent Resources
It is the mission of Black Rock High School to produce:
Self-directed learnerswho demonstrate competence in reading, writing, listening, and speaking; mathematics; and the use of computers
Critical thinkerswho are analytical, reflective, and creative
Productive citizenswho accept responsibility for themselves and accept their roles in family, school, and community
Lifelong learnerswho set, pursue, and accomplish realistic personal, educational, and career goals
In order to meet this end, it is vital that the staff of BRHS work together with parents and community members to create an environment that is conducive to learning and provides the tools to ensure our students’ success on the California and Core Standards and in life.
Black Rock High Schoolshares the responsibility with parents and students of planning, reviewing, and improving Title I programs on our site. We are required to provide timely notification of Title I programs to parents and students, as well as to inform parents of their right to be actively involved in the education of their children. We will host informational meetings and Site-based Management Meetings regarding the nature of our Title I status, funding for programs, curriculum, assessment and overall student proficiency levels four times a year.
All parents are welcome to attend these meetings, but they are in no way meant to be the only way parents can have input into the school’s programs. Parents are encouraged to stop by the school, call, or email at anytime if they have ideas they wish to share, have any concerns they would like to express, or have any questions.
