What is ACCE?
ACCE is the independent study program for Morongo Unified School District. We serve students from all 11 elementary schools, La Contenta Middle School, Twentynine Palms Junior High School, Yucca Valley High School and Twentynine Palms High School. It is important to know that ACCE is a program, not a school. Your student's school of record (SOR) maintains all official files.
Students are provided weekly lessons, activities and assessments to complete. Students are expected to complete the work independently, but reaching out for help as needed.
All students meet with their teacher weekly. Grade K-8 also meet daily via Zoom. During the weekly meetings, students turn in assignments to their teacher, get feedback and instruction, and receive new assignments. During daily meetings, students receive support and guidance on assignments, and can ask questions.
At all levels, parent involvement is critical to student success. Students need to have support in completing their week, managing their time and creating a learning environment at home.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does independent study work? This can vary by grade level, but in general students meet with their teacher weekly to turn in work, review and receive new work. Between meetings it is the student's responsibility to complete the work and if help is needed, to reach out. Weekly meetings are required per ed code.
