Principal's Corner

Principal of Friendly Hills Elementary School Randy Eigner

Message from the Principal

Dear Friendly Hills Elementary Families,

Welcome back to Friendly Hills Elementary for the 24/25 school year! I hope you had a fantastic summer. My name is Ms. Roach and I have joined Friendly Hills Elementary as the new school principal. I am so excited to join the Hawk Family and continue all the amazing work happening at FHES. We are about to begin another year filled with learning and soaring to new heights both academically and social emotionally. We are here to ensure EVERY child succeeds and becomes a confident and competent individual ready to navigate the world ahead.

In addition to myself, we also have a few new staff members joining us this year. Ms. Cowan joins as our new TK teacher, Ms. McCulley as our new PE teacher, Ms. Graham as our new art teacher, and Ms. Sterling as our new instructional assistant. I know they will all be great additions and they look forward to meeting you all.

As we start the new school year, here are some important things to keep in mind:

  1. Attendance matters! Critical learning happens every day and students need to be here to grow. Please make sure you have the school year calendar to ensure children are here and contact the teacher or office staff by phone, letter, or email if your child is absent.

  2. We are partners in this work! Parent, teacher, and child teamwork is essential. Your child’s teacher will explain their individual classroom rules and review the school-wide expectations. Please make sure you contact the teacher first if you have any questions. Teamwork makes the dream work.

  3. Establish a learning routine and environment at home.  Great learners have good learning habits: labeling work, completing work, doing neat /organized work, maintaining focus on the task at hand. Having space and time to do work at home will help in strengthening the skills we are working on at school. For example, a “library” space at home provides a place where they can dive into a good book and go on an adventure! It is a fun opportunity to get creative and let them have voice in the space.

  4. We want to hear from you! Please understand that our office staff and teachers are extremely busy. If we don’t answer right away, leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can (within 24 hours).

  5. School Funding Data Collection Forms: This will take less than 5 minutes and results in increased funding for FHES. Our goal is to have 100% completed by October 1st. Completing this form will allow us to continue to serve free meals to all our students and increase some special funding from the state. The higher our completion rate, the more we will have to spend on our kids! You can find this on MUSD homepage under nutritional services.

  6. Bring that JOY for learning! We have so much to discover and learn this year and you help set the tone. #loveoflearning

Again, I want to welcome you and reiterate that we are partners. We will provide a safe and joyful learning environment where young minds can soar. Please do not hesitate to reach out and let’s have a successful school year!
