The job of Speech-Language Pathology Assistant is done for the purpose/s of assisting a Speech Language Pathologist in providing instruction specific to the area of speech and language communication to students identified as having special needs; monitors the use of augmentative communication devices and systems.

Speech Language Pathology Assistant Job Description

Requirements / Qualifications: All applicants must have: Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED; Completion of a Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board-approved program or possession of a Bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology, or communication disorders, or an out-of-state associate of arts or sciences degree in speech-language pathology assistant. Additional experience working with children (ages three to twenty-one) is desirable.

Certificates and Licenses: Possession of a current first aid and CPR certification, registration with the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant is required within six months of appointment. Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability. A completed Employment Application. Resumes are not accepted in-lieu of a completed application.

QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL BE INVITED TO A FUTURE EXAMINATION A PASSING SCORE IS REQUIRED ON THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION.

3 - 3.75 hours per day, 10 months per year

*6 hour openings occur occasionally

The purpose of Instructional Assistant position is to assist students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments (e.g. reading stories, listening  to students reading, math, writing, verbal skills, facilitating activities, motor perception programs, behavioral skills, check homework, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts and reaching students' academic goals and potential.

REQUIREMENTS:  High School graduate or equivalent; six months experience working with children in a supervisory capacity. Volunteer, coaching and tutoring are accepted to meet this requirement.

ELOP FACILITATOR

3.5 - 4 hours per day, 10 months per year

POSITION HAS PAID SICK LEAVE, HOLIDAYS, AND VACATION

It may be possible for Classified Contract employees to be employed in an ELOP position and another Classified Contract position, as long as, the positions do not equal over eight hours a day.

REQUIREMENTS:  Minimum of two years of relevant job related experience is required. Previous experience facilitating staff. Six months working with students in a supervisory capacity. College or university coursework in a related field is desired.

High School Graduate or equivalent. 

Passing score must be achieved on written exams.

$19.28 per hour

2 - 3.5 hours per day, 10 months per year

POSITION HAS PAID SICK LEAVE, VACATION, AND HOLIDAYS

It may be possible for Classified Contract employees to be employed in an ELOP position and another Classified Contract position, as long as, the positions do not equal over eight hours a day.

REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or GED equivalent. Job related experience is required with a minimum of six months working with children in a supervisory capacity; paid or volunteer experience is acceptable.
