San Bernardino County recognized the Morongo USD this week for winning a CSBA Golden Bell Award.
The Golden Bell Awards recognize outstanding programs and governance practices of school boards of education in school districts throughout California. Golden Bell Awards reflect the depth and breadth of education programs that address students’ changing needs.
This year Morongo USD won our first Golden Bell Award for the Outdoor Classroom Project at Yucca Valley Elementary School. The Outdoor Classroom Project was launched in 2019 as part of a comprehensive plan to increase student engagement and achievement. The project aims to provide physical spaces for learning outdoors and a platform for project based learning and environmental education.
MUSD representatives including the Board of Education, district administrators, site leadership and teachers traveled to the SBCSBA annual meeting on Monday to celebrate this accomplishment.
“We are so proud of Yucca Valley Elementary School’s accomplishment and look forward to many more,” said Superintendent Dr. Patricio Vargas.
